St. Boniface, in Scipio, was established as a parish in 1858, and St. Therese, in Richmond, in 1926.  The two parishes have been served continuously by the Order of Carmelites since 1865.

We are parish communities of the Roman Catholic Church, and we strive to live the Gospel - the Good News of salvation won for us through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  We are guided and sustained in this through the Sacred Scriptures, the celebration of the Sacraments of the Church; by the religious formation of our youth as well as the adult community; through our parish organizations and their programs; by vibrant and loving relationships among our members; and by outreach to the larger community through works of charity and being welcoming and inclusive communities. In the spirit of the Carmelite tradition, we seek not to only experience the presence of God in the extraordinary, but especially in the ordinary events and experiences of our lives.  Through Baptism, we are given the call to be members of the Body of Christ - and as members of our parishes, we cherish this call and wish, with God's grace,  to share that Good News throughout our lives.
